| Can
you load samples into the RM1x ? No you can not, the RM1x uses an
onboard sample set only, you can however
edit some of the parameters of these
voices and change the way they sound. |
| Why
can't I hear the other tracks when I'm
recording in "Grid" mode ? For some reason
only known to the people at Yamaha that's
just the way it is. Fortunately you can
monitor the other tracks in the other
three record modes but yes it suck's and
is probably the biggest complaint you can
have against the RM1x. |
| What's
the latest operating system version, what
one have I got and how do I upgrade it?
The
latest version is 1.13 (April 2000). For
full detailes on checking, ordering and
fitting operating system ROM's go to the OS page |
| How
can I use more than one variation effect
in a pattern ? Per pattern or song you only
have one variation, one chorus and one
reverb effect. The variation patterns are
the more interesting but you can still
only use one. There is however a way
round this and there is a full
explanation of this on the tips page. |
| Can
I use midi files with the RM1x ?
Yes,
as well as its own file formats the RM1x
allows you to load and save standard midi
files. |
| When
I load midi files to my Rm1x and change
the instrument they keep changing back ?
At
the start of the midi file is a program
change command telling the RM1x or any
other sequencer what general midi
instrument to use on that track. With the
appropriate track selected press
"edit", you will see all the
midi data listed out, right at the start
should be one labelled "PC" for
program change, highlight this and hit
the delete function key, you will now be
able to determine the instrument for the
track by using the voice sub mode as
usual. |
| Can
my RM1x control my other synths and sound
modules or do I need a software sequencer
? The RM1x is a sequencer and
sound module all in one, you do not need
a software sequencer. The RM will control
your other synths and samplers it
receives and transmits all forms of midi
data (cc's & sys exc.). Personally I
use mine just for the sequencer and my
other modules for sounds. |
| If
I use my RM1x to control another sound
module or synth does this affect
polyphony ? The polyphony of
the RM1x is the maximum number of notes
the machine can play at one time. The
RM1x has a maximum sequencer polyphony of
64 notes and a maximum tone generator
polyphony of 32 notes. If you are
controlling external midi gear then the
RM1x's tone generator is not playing the
note so it will only be using the
polyphony of the sequencer (64) not the
tone generator. |
| Is
the polyphony of the RM1x affected by the
"play effects" ? The RM1x's play
effects play additional notes around
those in a phrase depending on the
settings. These additional motes if
produced by the tone generator will
obviously use tone generator polyphony
and the sequencer section polyphony as
well. |
